Akab is a busy bar with well-known international DJs hosting great events, especially on Tuesdays at L-Ektrica. Come here for retro on Wednesdays, R&B on Thursdays and house on Fridays and Saturdays. The Akab is a two strey building that has an underground cellar and a street-level room, plus an outside garden.

Al vino al vino is all about tasting wine. With a range of more than 500 wines and with more than 25 available by the glass, this hostelry on lively via dei Serpenti is a favourite spot for drinkers. Its real speciality is distillati: dozens of fine grappas, whiskies and other strong spirits. In the back room are pretty cast-iron tables, topped with volcanic stone and ceramics. The menu here is strong on Sicilian specialities such as caponata (Sicilian ratatouille) and eggplant parmigiana.

The sculptor Antonio Canova's workshop is now refurbished as a museum-atelier. Turned as a cafe, its tables are among its sculpture models that give it a refined and elegant old-world feel. The dark hardwood floors, wood-beamed ceilings, chandeliers and mustard-yellow leather banquettes and chairs, add to the old world charm. Lunch is served, and the small bar offers cocktails and assorted drinks, as well as tasty titbits, from canapes to cookies and pastries.

Freni e Frizini is one of the most hippest spot in Rome during the early evening hours.The artists types, the creatives, and the student crowd are the frequent visitors of this place.  A grand buffet is laid out on a snowy white tablecloth decorated with armfuls of long-stemmed roses and candles. Societe Lutece is a not so easy to find gem in Rome. This place has began to captivate the eclectic Roman hipsters who formerly frequented places like the Vineria in campo de' Fiori. The cramped quarters cause a spillover into the small piazza. Still, the aperitivo buffet (6.30-10.30pm - unless the food runs out earlier) is plentiful. The employees are very friendly. But the vibe here is decidedly laid back.

If you would like to taste some sea-food specialties of Rome, La Taverna dei Monti restaurant is there just at the centre. Just a few steps from the tunnelling, the restaurant is located near via Nazionale. With a warm atmospheare and its particular acquarium, you can eat a lot of dishes with fresh fish. You can try pasta specialties such as Maltagliati mussels, hen clams and broccoli or Fettuccine gosling sauce. After the first course, try on Oxe tail or Roman Tripe. The fish is caught everyday and is served grilled or fried. Also with a vast selection wines without your bill going too far. Except Monday, the restaurant is opened on all week days.

A rare find gem, Armando is a simple restaurant located a few yards from an A-league tourist attraction. It is also located right by the Pnatheon. It has all the hallmarks of authenticity: cork walls, indifferent artworks, a pretty, stained-glass entrance and friendly service from the family that has run it for the last couple of generations. The menu is almost unchanging with classics like fettucine all'Armando (with mushrooms, peas and tomatoes) or ossobuco. The only concessions to changing times are some filling vegetarian dishes and a much-expanded wine list.
